Fonck Plane In Fatal Crash 1) The planes mechanic and radio operator are burnt to death when the aircraft caught on fire prior to a New York to Paris flight. 2) In this dramatic newstory the plane is first shown taking off, after having to wait for several days for favorable weather. 3) After crashing to the ground, Fonck and another escaped but the other two men could not and they were left to burn inside of the plane. 4) The plane is shown on fire as people saddly watch it burn. 5) The radio operator is shown in some footage prior to the tragedy. Norge Flies Over Pole and Enters Unknown Arctic 1) The flight over the North Pole was made in the dirigible Norge which was designed and built by Umberto Nobile with the support of the Italian goverment. 2) The captain of the expedition was the Norwegian explorer, Roald Amundsen who became the first person to reach the South Pole in 1911. 3) Lincoln Ellsworth, an American explorer who was second in command of the flight is also shown in the film. 4) An animated map shows the route that the dirigible took during the flight of more than 70 hours from Spitsbergen, Norway to Teller, Alaska. 5) Footage is shown of Amundsen's previous attempt in May 1925 to fly over the North Pole.
