The silent short subject found Lugosi portraying Perriot, with Renaldo as the unfortunate Punchinello, who grieves for the love of a pretty girl while listening to the sounds of his rival's serenade. The Famous Lover's Production, directed by Renaldo, built itself around highly effective pantomime. Great Arts Pictures later released the 20 minute short subject with recorded music and spoken information as "The Mask".
