Pallet #9^Box #90035^Starring: Russell Hayden, Carroll Nye, Fay Helm^Produced and Directed by: Homer Fickett.^^This is the tale of how one farmer found his answer to the duty-call of his country when his older brother David, a marine, came home blind from teh battle front. The drama protrays a generation of life on the Landis family's farm, the whole broad sweep of agriculture in it's relation to war needs for food and fiber. David's return from the war with a handicap caused John to resolve to put in his brothers uniform and get into the fight "with a gun in his hands"/ But blind David finds the answer for John in John's own life story, which is one of sacrafice and courage, and in the farm itself. He persuades John to stay on the farm, to use his skill and knowledge in keeping his acres in production.^^^ Private Notes: Trivia: As a tribute to the all-important role the farmer was playing in the war, the DuPont COmpany had sponsored a stirring motion picture, "Soldiers of the Soil, produced by a Hollywood studio with a splendid cast of featured players. Although the film had just been released, this broadcast was a highlight of the fall season. Prints of this new film was available in 16mm and 35mm - 38 minutes running time - could be obtained through the film laboratories of the State Agriculture Extension Service or the Vocational and Educational Training Service
