Notes

Pallet 43 - 20356 - USC student takes Muybridge photographs and animates them with borders, silent-slapstick-like musical score.^^A well-done 3-minute student film that won many awards in its day, but suffers in comparison with more serious compilations of Muybridge's work. Probably in part was well-received at time because a 1960s student was showing interest in the work of an 1870s photographer/inventor.^^Summary: 5 series of Muybridge photos, including a naked woman with water jug, set to music. Nice border artwork by Hal Barwood.^^Description from sheet: Edward Muybridge took many series of sequence still photos in the 1870s in an attempt to analyze motion. This film was shot on an animation stand to introduce motion to the photographs. This film won the US Cine Golden Eagle, the National prize at the Edinburgh Festival, and the grand jury prize at the US Student Film Festival held at UCLA.^^
